The best thing about volunteering is feeling good about helping out - at least a little bit. Every day is moving day ( at the Thrift Store) and I love it! Unpacking all the neat stuff. We have a lot of fun.

I wanted to volunteer at KGM because in some small way I wanted to help the homeless. I love working here - for a lot of reasons. One main reason is the people are so grateful.

When I moved to Kelowna 2 ½ years ago, there were two things I wanted to accomplish right away, First; find a home church for my kids and I. Second: find a place to help my new community. How did I get involved as a volunteer? Here is the readers digest version. I use to see homeless people down town and I would bring some them to the store to buy them proper footwear and clothing. Then the next time I would see some of them I noticed that they were wearing their original clothing and footwear. At this point I realized I had not met their needs. Read more

I used to misunderstand the homeless until I met two mothers whose sons were on the street. I came to understand that homeless are real people with real problems and families who love them. I really enjoy working with the other volunteers - we have a lot of fun!
