KGM is looking for part-time (24 hrs/wk) Custodian/Program Aid.  Attention to detail, organization, initiative, familiarity with chronic homelessness, willingness to work hard, and pleasant communication are key components. This position works within a facility that has an Overdose Prevention Site with supervised use.

Job Posting Custodian/Program Aid    

Job Purpose the Custodian / Program Aid maintains the cleanliness of the facility, property and or grounds in compliance with applicable standards. The incumbent makes minor repairs and provides access to the facility as required. Provides support to Resident Support Workers and RSW -Team Leaders, packing up, storing, and disposing of client belongings left at our facilities; attends laundry room, does laundry, and light housekeeping duties.

 Characteristic Job Duties include the following

  • Transports gear and mattress
  • Completes and submits statistics
  • Communicate updates
  • Cleans the laundry room, lint traps, and disposing of garbage into the garbage bin weekly
  • Brings clean bedding and towels to the front desk daily
  • Performs attendant duties in the laundry room
  • Maintains laundromat supplies, report needed repairs in a timely manner, supply clients with information as needed
  • Conducts pack-ups and stores, disposes of, and arranges for long term storage of client belongings
  • Orders and maintains stock and tools to perform duties
  • Records all movement of client’s belongings in log book
  • Tags all belongings; pulls belongings for client pick-ups, and disposes of belongings following policies and procedures
  • Reports unusual activity to Team Leader or Assistant Manager
  • Delouses unhygienic or infested belongings
  • Disinfects mattresses
  • Prepares list for facilities to prepare for reuse
  • Audits supplies and inventory once a month
  • Arranges for shipment of electronic items to Recycling Warehouse

Conditions & Exposure to risk the incumbent’s work environment is typically the entire facility and property designated. The incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions: Isolation and monotony, handle garbage, odors, washrooms including human waste, angry people and verbal abuse, toxic chemicals, repetitive strain, Exposure to bodily fluids and bodily waste, Exposure to drugs and alcohol, Physical attacks by others, Exposure to infectious diseases, Exposure to toxic chemicals, Sharp objects, Other potentially dangerous situations.

Hours of work this position works 4on-4off at 6hours a day for a total of 24 hrs/wk. Schedule is from 9 AM-3:30PM with a 45 min break (30 minutes paid, 15 mins unpaid).

Required Education & Experience Completed secondary school, prior related experience, including life skills and general familiarity with cleaning and maintenance procedures.
