Community Coaching Workshops
Welcome to Kelowna’s Gospel Mission’s Community Coaching Workshops! We are excited to share how these workshops can equip your business with the knowledge and tools needed to confidently and safely interact with people experiencing homelessness in our city.
Workshop Overview
Our workshops focus on practical skills and insights rather than delving into the complexities of homelessness. Here’s what your team will gain from participating:
Debunking Myths: Learn to distinguish between myths and facts about homelessness.
Emergency Contacts: Understand who to call and when.
Safe Disposal of Needles: Get trained on safely picking up and disposing of needles.
Approaching Individuals: Learn the best practices for approaching someone sleeping in front of your business, job site, or public space.
Positive Engagements: Discover how to have positive interactions with people experiencing homelessness and handle situations if they escalate.
Overdose Identification: Recognize the signs of an overdose.
Administering Naloxone: Get hands-on training in administering Naloxone.
Each workshop lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes, allowing time for questions and interaction.
Our Vision
At Kelowna’s Gospel Mission, we envision a community where people are made whole. By participating in our Advocacy Workshops, you will be advocating for safe and supportive connections between businesses and individuals experiencing homelessness in our city.
